HubSpot A/B testing allows you to compare the performance of two-page versions at the same URL. Half of your visitors will see the original version, while the other half will see the alternate version.

Subsequently, you can compare the performance of each version in the page’s performance data before selecting a winning variation. This will make the winning variation the only live version of the page, and the other variation will be marked as draught.

HubSpot A/B testing on landing pages is possible with Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise accounts. A/B testing on landing and website pages is possible with CMS Hub Professional and Enterprise accounts.

Create HubSpot A/B Testing

A HubSpot A/B test can be performed on any published page. You can run a test for each language variation if your page is part of a multi-language group.

1- Navigate to your landing pages or website pages in your HubSpot account.

2- Hover over your page and select Run a test from the More dropdown menu.

3- Select the A/B test in the dialogue box, then click Next.

4- Give each page variation a name, then click Create variation. This will take you to the page editor for your B variation, a clone of your original page.

5- Update the page variation’s content. Consider putting the following variables to the test:

Offers: Experiment with different types of content offers. You could compare an ebook to a consultation or a video.

Copy: Experiment with the content’s formatting and style. You could compare plain paragraphs to bullet points or a longer text block to a shorter text block.

Images: Experiment with different images to see how they affect conversion rates.

Form fields: Try varying the length of your form. You could compare requesting only an email address to request more information.

Please remember that while both versions of the page will have the same live URL, they will have different preview URLs for testing.

6- To edit the original version of your page within the page editor, select the other page from the test Test variation dropdown menu in the upper left.

7- To start the test, click Publish in the upper right corner. This will activate both versions of your page.

Review HubSpot a/b Testing

You can review the HubSpot A/B testing results after your visitors have begun engaging with both page variations.

1- Navigate to your content as follows:

Website Pages: Go to Marketing > Website > Website Pages in your HubSpot account.

Landing Pages: Go to Marketing > Landing Pages in your HubSpot account.

6- Hover over a variation and click Choose as a winner to select it as the test’s winner. The losing variant will no longer be visible.

HubSpot Personalization tokens allow you to show personalized content to your contacts based on their CRM property values. Personalization tokens in HubSpot can boost website and email campaign engagement. You can use any default or custom contact property to personalize content in HubSpot emails, website pages, and landing pages.

This article will show you how to insert personalized content into HubSpot rich text modules in the page editor, marketing email editor, and page and email templates. Please remember that personalization is not available for landing pages created with a starter template or any externally hosted pages.

Adding HubSpot Personalization To Your Content

1- Go to content

Website Pages: Go to Marketing > Website > Website Pages in your HubSpot account.

Landing Pages: Go to Marketing > Landing Pages in your HubSpot account.

Please Note: On a thank you page, you should not use smart content. When a visitor submits a form and is redirected to a thank you page, HubSpot does not have enough time to determine whether the contact satisfies the smart content rules on the thank you page.

2- Hover over the name of the content you want to edit and select Edit.

3- Click Create email/landing page/website page if you’re creating new content.Click a rich text module in the editor to insert a personalization token.

4- Place your cursor where you want the personalization token to appear, then select it from the Personalize dropdown menu in the rich text toolbar

5- Use the search bar to select a HubSpot token from the token dropdown menu.

Many marketers use both HubSpot and Google Analytics (GA) for web analytics but aren’t sure which is the best. You don’t even have to because you can integrate HubSpot with Google analytics hub. Your Google Analytics account will collect data on visits to your HubSpot site when you combine Google Analytics with HubSpot.

There are 2 ways through which you can integrate HubSpot and Google analytics:

Using a Google Analytics tracking ID. Only a Tracking ID can be used by users with a Marketing Hub Starter subscription and no CMS Hub subscription.

Add your Google Analytics tracking code snippet to your domain’s site header HTML.

Method 1- HubSpot Google Analytics Integration Via Tracking Code

From your HubSpot account, navigate to settings icon.

Navigate to website >pages

Select a domain from the Choose a domain to edit its settings dropdown menu to update its settings. Select Default settings for all domains to apply tracking to all HubSpot-hosted content. If a disagreement arises, the domain-specific settings will precede the default settings.

Select the Integrations tab from the dropdown menu.

Select the Integrate with Google Analytics checkbox in the Tracking integrations section. Clear this checkbox to disconnect the integration instead.

Enter a Google Analytics Tracking ID in the field. Alternatively, you can add the Google Analytics monitoring code to your site’s header HTML.

Click Save on the bottom left.

Method 2- HubSpot Google Analytics Integration by Applying Google Analytics to the site header HTML of a domain.

In settings, you can add the Google Analytics tracking code to your domains’ header HTML. If you’re utilizing a custom Google Analytics script, this is also a good idea.

Please Note:

The HubSpot cookie policy banner does not influence tracking code added via header HTML. It will automatically record data on visitors regardless of whether or not they have opted in. Google’s developer documentation can further help you adjust this behavior. Your legal and development teams are the greatest resources for ensuring that your site’s use of the Google Analytics script complies with privacy rules.

Go to settings option from the main navigation bar > Go to website > pages

Select Choose a domain to edit it’s settings > Choose domain

Select Default settings for all domains, to add the tracking code to all HubSpot-hosted domains. If a conflict arises, the domain-specific settings will precede the default settings.

Enter your Google Analytics tracking code in the Site header HTML area. Learn how to locate your Google Analytics tracking code on Google’s Website.

A global module is used in multiple templates such that when edited once, it shows up on every website page it is used. A global module in HubSpot websites and HubSpot CMS themes could be a website footer, unlike the modules commonly used in templates, where a change affects only that template.

To clarify, if you change a global module, it will affect all templates in which it is used.

Just make sure when you edit these global modules, that you have everything set right.

That is to say, any editing mistake can show up on every page too. Its visibility and universality is the major difference between any normal module and a global module.

Other normal HubSpot modules only show changes where they are used. For example, you can edit the gallery module differently for different pages. But it is not the same with a website footer or header.

Using dynamic content HubSpot allows displaying smart content modules based on viewer categories. The HubSpot smart content can effectively display multiple versions of content. Additionally, you can even personalize emails with smart content by creating alternatives.

HubSpot smart content examples: you can set up a different CTA or smart text for visitors from a specific country or those viewing on a mobile device.

Smart Content Rules

To set up smart content, HubSpot has laid down the following categories:

Smart Content Categories

Rule

1.

Ad Source

Show viewers content based on the ad they clicked. The UTM parameters in the page URL determine the ad source.

2.

Country

Show different smart content to viewers based on the country they see it from. Their IP address determines their country.

3.

Device Type

Visitors who access your site via mobile, tablet, or desktop should be targeted. The smart content tools analyze your visitor’s browser’s user agent to determine their device type. The device type smart content rule cannot guarantee accurate segmentation because a user can manually change the device type on the current device.

4.

Referral Code

Smart content based on how the viewers found your website.

5.

Preferred Language

Based on the language set on the viewer’s website browser.

6.

Contact List Membership

Members of a specific HubSpot list viewing your website will see different content.

7.

Lifecycle Stage

shows different content based on the Lifecycle stage property value of a visitor.

8.

Query Parameter

Show content based on the query parameters in the visitor’s page URL. The query parameter rule is determined by the parameter’s name and the query string value. For example, if you want to set a rule for users who have ‘HubSpot’ in their URL, your rule would be utm content that Contains HubSpot.

Manage HubSpot Smart Content

You can add smart content to your blog posts, emails, and any website or landing page. Therefore, you need to first decide where you want to use smart content in HubSpot. Decide where you want to use the dynamic content > Choose the exact module from the email template, website, or landing page. For instance, if you want to add smart content to our landing page:

Go to marketing >landing pages > select any landing page > edit

From the edit page menu on the left side, under contents, select a module you want to display smartly. Alternatively, you can directly click the pencil icon when you hover over any theme module and go to the next step.

The particular module settings will open. The first option will be that of smart content. In our example, we will edit the title content module and create smart content for the same.
